New Artist Reception

April 8, 2017 @ 15:00 - 17:00

Free

We would like to celebrate Spring by introducing you to four of our most recent artists. Please join us as we feature these artists at our Second Saturday reception on April 8 from 3-5 pm! Light snacks & refreshments will be served.

Craig Kompelien
Craig is the founder of Blue Ridge Bow Ties, which started as an adventure to create custom bow ties that are truly unique and one of a kind. Collections range from a variety of patterns and styles and include matching father-son bow tie sets. You are sure to find something that cannot be found elsewhere! His website is: www.blueridgebowties.com

Dinah Bailey
Since attending her first flameworking class in 2009, Dinah has been making a range of glass jewelry. Using an oxygen-propane torch she melts the tip of a glass rod and wraps it around steel. She then either shapes the bead with various tools or adds more glass to create a pleasing pattern or an organic design. Dinah also enjoys teaching beginning flameworking and jewelry making.

Jennifer Knight
Jennifer has degrees in Math and Education from UVA. She has always loved creating beauty and finding symmetry and repetitive patterns in the world around her. As a life-long learner, Jennifer has followed her love for art and studied calligraphy, black & white film photography, pottery, Japanese flower arranging, ancient Chinese calligraphy, and computer graphics. Jennifer is known for her greeting cards in a folk art style, many featuring mandalas and geometric designs. She loves to hide words in her art, so look closely! Jennifer lives in Earlysville Virginia with her husband, Scott, and three children. Her website is: www.thechrysalisroom.com.

Susan Salomon
After many years working finance in Vermont and Long Island, Susan returned to the Commonwealth of Virginia to pursue her true passion of knitting. A tradition passed down from her grandmother and mother, Susan enjoys knitting original creations ranging from baby sweaters to hats and mittens. Her use of high quality fibers make for particularly original and quality works of art. Her items are sure to warm both your body and soul. Her website is: www.buttonbayfiberarts.com.
