It’s nearly Christmas:

I planted a live tree Christmas tree about 10 years ago. It is now taller than my house and quite gorgeous. I would love to give it to Crozet for the Christmas Tree in the Square. Who do I contact for this??

Cat Killings in Crozet?

There have been several cats found dead in the Wayland’s Grant/Jarmans Gap area. There is speculation about coyotes or other wildlife doing the killing. Have you heard anything about this? It is concerning as a parent with small children who like to play outside. (We keep our cat indoors and will continue to do so!)

Crozet Master Plan Work Session – 1 September 2010

The Board of Supervisors will hold a Work Session on the Crozet Master Plan Update at their September 1, 2010 meeting. The Master Plan Update has been recommended for approval by the Planning Commission. The Board will receive public comment at this meeting. A public hearing on the Plan will be held at a later date.

Restore N Station *Does* Need a Special Use Permit

Basically, Ron Higgins’ determination has been negated and the current status of the RestoreNStation is that it is still denied and must/may proceed with the Special Use Permit process.

From the letter: (bolding in the letter)

This determination supercedes the August 19, 2010 determination, which is hereby withdrawn.


It is my determination, after careful review of the information in your July 21, 2010 memorandum, the pertinent sections of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance and further discussions with Albemarle County Officials, that the proposed Re-Store N’ Station continues to require a special use permit for water consumption in accordance with County Code …

Streetscape Phase II Begins in Crozet

From the press release:

Construction is beginning this week on Main Street and alley improvements as part of the next phase of the Destination Downtown infrastructure improvements scheduled for Crozet. The project includes construction of a new road, called Main Street, as called for in the Master Plan and significant improvements to the alley leading from the new road to the Square in downtown Crozet.

Crozet’s “Downtown Mall”?

Now that the Crozet Community Advisory Council has given their endorsement … what do the rest of you think?

A group that oversees planning in Crozet has endorsed a new concept to redevelop a lumber yard on the Square into a walkable and livable community similar to Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall.

“We need a pedestrian mall in Crozet,” said Mike Marshall, chairman of the Crozet Community Advisory Council. “This comes into Crozet’s life at a very fortunate time for us.”

The CCAC voted Thursday to recommend rezoning the 14.74-acre J. Bruce Barnes Lumber Yard and CSX railroad property to allow for future development as part of the Crozet Master Plan.

Once again, Charlottesville Tomorrow proves to be invaluable.
