The Kokomotions – February 25, 2017
February 25, 2017 @ 18:30 - 21:00
Free
They’re back! The Kokomotions were formed In the early 80’s as a side project by innovator Billy Brockman, new to the area; long-time musical partner of Billy, Skip Haga; a well-experienced rhythm section consisting of Steve Riggs and Eddie Hall; and wild sax man Ross Aliston. Unexpectedly, with its high energy, great musicianship, New Orleans flavor and really fun and danceable music, the band immediately became a force in the Charlottesville and surrounding area and turned into a full time band. Skip, Billy and Eddie began writing strong material that fit right in to the band’s feel. This continued through the 80’s until its demise.
Well, they’re back and much more experienced individually, playing the best of the old material and mixing in new. It’s just as much fun as it always was, and we are excited to have them come back to The Batesville Market.
Their style: New Orleans flavored R & B, Rock & Roll and Blues.
Their influences: Dr. John, Professor Longhair, The Meters, Fats Domino, James Brown, Elvis Presley and Hank Williams… think Blues, Rockabilly, late 40’s and early 50’s R & B, New Orleans Rock & Roll and Funk.
The Saturday Night Dinner Special: TBD (we always have a veggie option!)
