Neal Goodloe – 11 Mar 2018 @Batesville Market
March 11 @ 13:00 - 15:30Free
Neal Goodloe is a singer-songwriter who lives in Charlottesville, VA.
Neal bought his first decent guitar in 1975 while in high school, played it for a few years, then put it back in its case and shoved it under a bed. Thirty years later, he dug it back out, tuned it up, and started writing songs, initially with only his dogs as an audience. They liked it so much, Neal decided to try playing for people too.
For the past three years, Neal has been playing as both as a solo artist, and as one third of the local group 502 Fossils (with Lon Tate and Marc Lipson). Neal is also grateful for the mentorship of well-known artists such as Mike Clem and Susan Munson for giving him the courage to step in front of mic. A lifelong dream, fulfilled.
Performing has provided a good excuse for Neal to become a first-rate guitar addict. His current collection includes a number of elderly instruments that Neal uses in his performances. Look for Neal to bring guitars from the ’30’s to the ’50’s to his shows, so that his audience can hear their unique tones. They really don’t make them like that anymore!
Neal has no real affiliation to a specific genre. Tunes range from blues to country, Americana, bluegrass, and protest songs. Nothing too heavy, just a bit thoughtful, with a dose of humor and lots of toe-tapping.
