Second Saturdays Art Opening @ Art on the Trax with Linda Verdery

“A Mind of Seasons” paintings by Linda Verdery

Art on the Trax is pleased to welcome back local artist, Linda Verdery.  Her show, “A Mind of Seasons,” will be on display at Art on the Trax for the month of October.  About her work: “I try to reach beyond my eye alone to respond to a subject’s mood, atmosphere or even narrative. Sometimes favorite objects or places suggest memories I wish to hold on to. For landscapes, I only paint places I know well. Abstracts come from a perception that is distilled. Stylistically, I let the subject determine the approach. Starting with knives, I apply large swaths of color and then plan the color notes and opening gestures. I draw and redraw, scrape and scrub. My process seems to require missteps and I enjoy the redos, letting the act of painting just take over. In my studio are always three or four paintings in process and more are left to face the wall.”

The artist reception will be held during Second Saturday, on October 12th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  This reception is part of Crozet’s Second Saturday events. We will be serving up The Art Box’s famous ice cream sundaes topped with fruit from local orchards. This exhibit is free and on view for the month of October.  Art on the Trax is located at Creative Framing and The Art Box, across from the Old Crozet Train Station, at 5784 Three Notch’d Road in Crozet, Virginia.

Second Saturdays Art Opening @ Art on the Trax with Tom Tartaglino

If you’re feeling inspired, at 12PM stop by as you visit other local venues for a demonstration on pour painting using Golden pouring mediums, an ever-popular technique that can be used to create beautiful abstract artwork.

Art on the Trax will also be hosting an opening reception for prints and paintings by Tom Tartaglino from 2PM to 4PM.

Today we have more distractions than ever. We cannot drive our cars without the cell phone going off.  We spin about controlled by our phones, social media, streaming news flashes and noise. We are being stressed like never before and it seems difficult to change our trajectory.

But there is Nature. Nature who can calm us down and defrag us with her beauty and acceptance.  Coming back to nature is being centered. You remember it from before technology. You remember that you liked walking in the woods, discovering a new plant, hearing a new bird. You like when the woods bloom in spring and the fragrance travels on the wind. It makes you quiet again.

Creativity happens when we are quiet. It is an in-the-moment activity, a meditation. It is where inspiration is born. Where an ordinary object becomes fascinating. Where the shadow of a tree has a whole world inside it. Where animals have personalities and magic becomes possible.– Tom Tartaglino

Our events are free and open to the public. Art on the Trax is located at Creative Framing and The Art Box, across from the Old Crozet Train Station, at 5784 Three Notch’d Road in Crozet, Virginia.

Second Saturdays art opening with Hannah Chiarella

Art on the Trax will feature artwork by Hannah Chiarella during the month of December!

My work tries to reconcile the disorder of nature and the rigid order of graphic design. I try to recreate, yet reimagine, the beauty of natural textures and inspiration in modern and geometric compositions. I am especially interested in art nouveau and how historic depictions of nature can continue to be reshaped for a more contemporary word.

Please join us for a Second Saturday Opening Reception on February 9th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. This reception is part of Crozet’s Second Saturday events. We will be serving up The Art Box’s famous ice cream sundaes topped with fruit from local orchards.
All events are free and open to the public. Art on the Trax is located at Creative Framing and The Art Box, across from the Old Crozet Train Station, at 5784 Three Notch’d Road in Crozet, Virginia.
