Crozet Trails Crew Work Day

December 10, 2016 @ 09:30 - 15:00

Work day to clear an area near the Claudius Crozet Blue Ridge Tunnel. Please bring gloves, hiking/work boots, warm clothing, a bag lunch, and plenty of water, plus tools such as loppers, hedge shears, and/or pruning shears. We will bring chain saws and powered weed whackers.

Meet at 9:15 am at the Western Albemarle High School front parking lot (just to the left as you turn off 250 into the WAHS property) to fill out necessary paperwork, then caravan to the tunnel parking lot. We will leave WAHS promptly at 9:30 am with hopes of beginning the trail work by 10 am.

After the workday, Bob Dombrowe, member of both the Crozet Trails Crew and the Blue Ridge Tunnel Foundation, will offer a tour of the tunnel for those who are interested. If you plan to go on the tour, you will be required to sign a hold harmless agreement from Nelson County before we leave Crozet. Bring a bright flashlight, a camera, and waterproof boots (to wade through 4-8 inches of water) for the tour. Total round trip walking distance is about 1.5 miles.
