Pop’s Bots: Whimsical Metal Creations by Bruce Fortier
August 1 @ 10:00 - August 31 @ 17:00Free
During the month of August, Crozet Artisan Depot proudly presents the whimsical artwork of Guest Artist Bruce Fortier. Bruce will be at the Second Saturday Reception on August 11th from 3-5pm in the historic Crozet train depot. We are thrilled to welcome Bruce and his “Bots” for this special show and sale during the month of August only!
Pops Bots is “a retirement project gone very right”! Bruce Fortier transforms antique metal parts into unique creations with personality and attitude. Using old kitchen utensils, spice tins, clock parts, small tools, etc., Bruce creates “Bots” that bring reactions of surprise and joy to all who view his work.
Bruce Fortier began his artistic journey years ago while working as a mechanic. Used car parts lying around his shop brought visions of unusual creatures to his mind. He began by constructing large sculptures for his wife’s garden and eventually scaled down his creations utilizing found metal objects and materials. Upon retiring in 2014, Bruce took Pop’s Bots to a new level and this retirement project quickly became an award-winning phenomenon at fine Art & Craft Festivals across the region. Not one of those guys who struggles with lost identity in retirement, Bruce loves his busy show schedule and currently sells his work at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, VA. He works from his home workshop, the Bot Room, in Waynesboro, VA.
