Town Hall Meeting with Ann Mallek re: Albemarle County Schools
November 22, 2014 @ 10:00 - 12:00
Dear Members of Our School Community:
Over the next month, there will be several town hall meetings conducted by members of the Board of Supervisors. The supervisors will be discussing the recent five-year financial plan that was presented to the Board. The plan includes the financial outlook for schools, general government and capital improvements and it is used in the development of the respective budgets beginning next year.
Currently the projections show a $8.1 million gap for the fiscal year that begins next July 1 and a total gap of $26 million for the full five years. The purpose of the town hall meetings is to hear from you about the strategies that you value and support to address these projected deficits. Among some options is the reduction or elimination of services, making adjustments to the tax rate or considering special tax districts. Your questions or suggestions are encouraged. For those who are unable to attend a town hall meeting, comments can be provided on line at http://engage.albemarle.org/
