You Are My Sunshine

Learn a little about our closest star and investigate how its powers can be used to cook up a dessert or create works of art. You’ll also be able to pick up a pair of solar shades for safely viewing the total solar eclipse later in the month. Ages 7-13.

You can do better than ramen and easy mac. Learn to feed yourself with nothing more than a microwave in this hands-on workshop, ideal for the college-bound or any teen who wants more control over their eating. Food included. Grades 6-12.

Bollywood Dance Workout

Page Turners: A Book Group for Kids

Stop by the library to get your free copy of All Four Stars by Tara Dairman, about a 6th grader who is accidentally hired as a restaurant critic for a New York newspaper. Read it on your own and then join other Page Turners for an hour of book club discussion and fun. Ages 8-11. Registration is required and begins on June 26.

Fandom Cupcake Wars

Battle for cupcake supremacy! Design your own cupcake themed after your favorite fandom, add display elements, photograph your creation, and vote for overall best design. Afterwards, if you can bear to say goodbye to your creation, it’s yours to eat.

Potluck & Quidditch in the Park

Bring a broom to ride and a dish to share to Crozet Park for a picnic and afternoon of quidditch, the sport played in Harry Potter. Meet in the grass area by the pond. Grades 6-12. Rain cancels.

Join Mad Science of Central Virginia for exciting demonstrations and hands-on activities to discover why science is the real star on the big screen. Make your own mini movie flipbooks to take home. Ages 6-12.
