We have some neat and interesting things in and around Crozet.

I’m trying to promote awareness of an iaido-iaijutsu dojo at the Greenwood Community Center where I’ve trained for six years. We train with iaito (real katana with dulled edges) and bokken (wooden swords for two-person drills). The system is called Muso Jikiden Eishen Ryu, which has remain virtually unchanged for 450 years and was used by samurai to maintain their sword skills. We’ve done demonstrations for years at the Batesville Day Festival. Once a year, as part of our testing, we cut tatami mats with live, razor-sharp katana. Currently our students include males and females, ages 10 to 66.
