This is nowhere near comprehensive, and I didn’t intend it to be. This is but a post to provide inspiration for things to do in and around Crozet this October. It’s 84º as I write this, and that’s simply an unreasonable October temperature. It’s going to get cooler, right?

I had forgotten about Chiles’ weekend music, Crozet Book Fest and Crozet Trails Crew 5K/10K are this month, so is the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festival — this is truly one of the best months to live in Crozet.

October is when Crozet goes all in on fall, and this year the Saturdays carry the month. Here’s what’s on the calendar, in date order.

Early October

Weekends in October: HenleyFest at Henley’s Orchard. Henley’s Orchard (2192 Holly Hill Farm) runs HenleyFest every weekend this month, starting Saturday, Oct 3. Chiles Peach Orchard also has live music on weekends.

Tuesday, Oct 6: Free Tuesday Nature Journal Day. Montfair Resort Farm, 2500 Bezaleel Drive.

Saturday-Sunday, October 10-11: Crozet Arts & Crafts Festival

The fall edition of Crozet’s biggest event takes over Claudius Crozet Park. More than 120 juried artists and craftspeople come from around the country, with food trucks, live music, and kids’ activities. Hours are Saturday 10 am-5:30 pm and Sunday 10 am-5 pm. Get tickets here. “All proceeds from the Crozet Arts and Crafts Festivals benefit Claudius Crozet Park – a non-profit and community-owned organization”

Saturday, October 17

Three Cheers for Pooh! Crozet Library, 10:30-11:30 am. A storytime for the little ones.

Harvest Party at King Family Vineyards, 6-9 pm. – $175/ticket

Saturday, October 24: The Big Day

Crozet Book Fest. The third annual festival fills downtown Crozet with author panels, workshops, and meet-and-greets across several walkable venues, including Bluebird & Co. (5792 Three Notch’d Road). It’s free, and there are crafts for kids at the library. Full author lineup at bluebirdcrozet.com.

Crozet Trails Crew 5K/10K/Family Fun Run. Claudius Crozet Park. The 5K starts at 10 am, and there’s a post-race party at Starr Hill. The run raises money for the Crozet trail network. Sign up here.

Book Fest and the race are the same morning, so you can run, then walk downtown for the authors.

Thursday-Friday, October 29-30: Halloween Safety Trunk-or-Treat

Albemarle County Police and public safety partners host two free evenings of trunk-or-treating, safety resources, and activities for kids of all ages. Costumes are encouraged.

  • Thursday, Oct 29, 4-7 pm: Claudius Crozet Park
  • Friday, Oct 30, 4-7 pm: Darden Towe Park

Every Week

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, so I suspect the annual “When do the kids go trick or treating in Crozet?” is easily answered in 2026, Right? 🙂
