Swimming in Crozet – Part 3 – Mint Springs Park
Perhaps my personal favorite of the three – Mint Springs Park Local residents can rediscover affordable family fun at Albemarle County’s three swimming beaches this summer. On Saturday, May 29, swimming beaches at Chris Greene, Walnut Creek and Mint Springs open for the three-day holiday weekend. Beaches are open from Memorial Day Weekend thru Labor Day Weekend, except when Albemarle County Schools are in session (Swimming will be available 7 days a week beginning Saturday, June 12. Inexpensive season passes for individuals and families are available at all three beaches and at the Parks and Recreation Office on the first floor of the County Office Building at McIntire Road.

I know, it’s really early to be thinking about this, but apparently it’s good to get registered for kindergarten now: A note from Mrs. Marcus: If you know of any family with a rising Kindergarten student, please make sure they have registered for next year. Teachers are hired based on the number of registered students and as of now, there are only 35 rising Kindergartners at Crozet Elementary! … Families whose first language is other than English should contact the International & ESOL Office at 434-296-6517.

From a comment : Two important public hearings for the proposed ReStore ‘N Station are coming up and it is critical that people attend these meetings if they are concerned about the size and character of a huge gas station/truck stop proposed for Route 250 West. … Here are two hearings where your attendance is needed to: · Show your support for the adjoining neighborhood’s attempt to scale back the size and use of the project; · Note your concern about a large project like this proposed to be built near three schools on Scenic Route 250. 1) Tuesday, June 1 at 2 p.m. for a Board of Zonings Appeals (BZA) Hearing and 2) Tuesday, June 8 at 6 p.m. for a Planning Commission Public Hearing Don’t feel like you need to speak at these meetings, just showing up is important! … You also might have children going to one of the nearby three schools and are interested in showing support for scaling back the size of the project.
