Vacation Mowing Service in Crozet

Check out this vacation mowing service in Crozet, courtesy of Sean Connolly , a graduating senior at WAHS. Sean contacted me and he strikes me as a quality, enterprising young man who has something that many people – young or not – lack: a work ethic and a willingness to do something that is seemingly anathema to so many: WORK. So, if you need some vacation mowing or work done around the house, give him a call. … Yes, this is sort of an ad, but no, I’m not getting paid to run it.

Crozet Fireworks Needs Our Help (2011)

In Crozet by Jim9 Comments

We have a beautiful environment, a varied four-season climate, a safe community, a friendly and involved group of citizens who value all the good things that come with living in a small town. … People come to Crozet from all over our country to enjoy the quality of life that perhaps they used to know somewhere else, but no longer exists in many cities and towns. … Let’s lend our financial support to our Crozet Park as it tries to complete a fund-raising goal to pay for an all-season dome over the pool. … The festivities continue on Saturday, July 2nd with a parade down Crozet Avenue starting at 4:00 PM and a fireworks show beginning that evening around 9:30 (or 20 minutes after dark) in Crozet Park.

Our Legislator is running for Re-Election

In Politics by Jim2 Comments

After the veto of HB 5001, the House Privileges & Elections Committee (P & E), of which I am a member, followed the Governor’s advice to take the opportunity to strengthen the plan we had originally passed. On April 18th, the P & E Committee met and approved by a vote 16-0 House Bill 5005, strengthening our original plan by making several adjustments.

…If re-elected in November of this year, I will certainly miss all the constituents in the precincts that the 25th District is losing, but look forward to making new friends and having the privilege of serving new constituents.

…   You may also access the Virginia General Assembly website at http://legis.virginia.gov and under “Legislative Agencies” in the left-hand box, click on “Legislative Services” where you will then see “Redistricting” on the left hand side.

I’d love to see any of these meetings live-streamed to involve more members of the Crozet community. We could even have Twitter conversations using a hashtag to really pull more people in.

I feel like each step of this should be preceded by a Law & Order style title as this story has so many twists and characters … I’d love to see a timeline.

The Albemarle Architectural Review Board has panned the design for a 2-story gas station and convenience store proposed for U.S. … I know this: I’m glad I’m not trying to build a commercial building in Albemarle.

Parkside Village Described by the HooK

In Crozet, real estate by JimLeave a Comment

The HooK, in their weekly On the Block feature described Parkside Village pretty well when writing about a property I am co-marketing :

…Parkside Village is home to lots of families– moms and dads push strollers along the sidewalks while kids ride their bikes around the cul-de-sacs. Claudius Crozet Park is within easy walking distance and offers a variety of activities including baseball, boot camps, soccer, swimming, and art and antique shows. … Long-time residents of Crozet may relegate the clatter of the train, which can be heard from many places in town, to background noise, but the close proximity of the tracks will undoubtedly deter some prospective purchasers.

How Often Does the Train Run in Crozet?

In Crozet by Jim26 Comments

is one of the most common questions I hear from buyers who are contemplating moving to Crozet . When I am working with buyers who are moving to Crozet, my answer is, “the train goes by often enough that we don’t really pay attention to it.” When we moved here several years ago, it probably took us a week or two to get used to the train. I asked CSX several years ago if they could tell me how often they run, and they told me that they wouldn’t tell me because of security concerns (I’m not a terrorist, by the way).
