Crozet Trails Crew Works this Weekend!

via email:

“This Saturday, July 9, we will be working on part of the future Crozet Greenway. We will meet at Crozet Park near the picnic pavilions at 8:30am. There will be two options:

1. Bring your workgloves and clear seasonal vegetation from the trail we built last fall, widen the trail where necessary (treadwork), and discuss low-cost options for a creek crossing @ Lickinghole Creek.

2. Bring your mountain bike and explore some possible options for the Crozet Trails Day 5k trail run (and perhaps future Greenway route).
Saturday July 16th- Workday at Byrom Park, north of White Hall. I will post more information on the website about it soon (www.crozettrailscrew.org)

And we will likely have a workday on Saturday, July 23rd, possibly partnering with a Scout troop or two. More info on that to come.”

Quickstart Tennis at Crozet Park

via Press Release:

QCV is pleased to announce it is partnering with Claudius Crozet Park in Crozet, VA to reintroduce tennis to the 50-year-old park and provide three permanent QuickStart Tennis courts for kids in western Albemarle County and two regulation courts for players of all ages. Both organizations are 501(c)(3) nonprofits with histories of productive collaborations, community outreach and tangible, goal-oriented results.

Lynda Harrill, QCV Founder, says, “Kids need kid-sized courts to play on. Permanent 36-foot courts make it possible for kids to jump on a court and play any time they want. Spontaneous play is a big part of the USTA’s Competency Progression for kids and an integral part of the “Tennis Pathway” we are building in our community. Last summer QCV found out the Crozet Park Board wanted to reinstate their tennis courts and persuaded them to include QuickStart Tennis in their plans.

Library Avenue is Open

Temporary parking lot coming soon. Connectivity starts now.

“We are very pleased to be opening this section of roadway in Crozet that will be immediately helpful in providing connectivity in downtown and will eventually be a valuable multi-modal road serving the wider Crozet community,” said County Executive Tom Foley.

I’ll say this – making a left turn from Library Avenue onto 240 is going to be a challenge. Continue reading “Library Avenue is Open”

Crozet Trails Crew Kickoff + Earn a T-Shirt!

I have to tell you, the Crozet Trails Crew t-shirts are pretty sweet.

We will be having a Crozet Trails Day planning kick-off meeting on Thursday, June 30th (6:30-8:00pm) at the Crozet Mudhouse. We will be talking about what needs to be done to prepare for this years CTDay, which will be held on October 15th (Saturday). We are going to need a lot of help so that the tasks are spread out over many helping hands. Please try to attend–this is a great way to volunteer with the CTC (and earn a T-shirt) if you haven’t been able to participate in the weekend workdays.
