Any restaurant that has CrayAngles is going to win my vote to return.Dinner for a family of four for under eighty bucks (with drinks) = not bad in this day and age…. Outstanding fresh bread with three home-made sauces - raspberry, horseradish mustard and honey mustard - all of which were very tasty. Appetizer were corn fritters - five fried fritters that looked quite a bit like hush puppies - having five to split amongst the four of us provided an opportunity for negotiating. The house salads were fresh and good, as were the dressings and meals came out, well-timed.The kids mac and cheese was quite good (and good the next day as well) and resembled a cheese soup with noodles. Around the rest of the white-clothed table were pork chops with asparagus and mashed potatoes, grilled meatloaf wth the same sides and a monstrous chicken pot pie with a crust of mashed potatoes - all of which did nothing but encourage us to return.

A quick summary of some of the discussions surrounding the Crozet shootings.CvillenewsThe HookDaily Progress (sporting a new website, no less!) And CNN, FoxNews and the AP.It’s a bit eerie today; schools are closed, but kids are playing outside. Soccer practice was canceled, but not everybody knew, or expected to not have practice…. Anybody have any thoughts on today’s events?

This “reporter” missed the groundbreaking, but these are a few of the related stories from the media -The Daily Progress -Old Trail - set against a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet - will feature a “town center” in the midst of residential development. The center will include 85,000 square feet of commercial and office space, including a coffee shop, three restaurants and fitness center along with individual offices. The Old Trail community has about 135 occupied homes, but the large development could have up to 2,600 townhouses, homes and apartments in the next 10 to 15 years. Developers said in an interview they are hoping to build about 100 units per year.Old Trail LivingView photos of the event here and here.Old Trail groundbreakingPhoto courtesy of.

Via Schoolmatters.Boundary Adjustments - The first phase of adjustments will examine different options for moving students from Crozet Elementary to Brownsville Elementary for the fall of 2009. Staff is currently reviewing 5-year projections, numbers of students at each grade level, current location of students, and predicted growth to develop viable options to be presented to the community in May…. Staff will then consider the input, look at September 30th enrollment numbers, and finalize options to be brought forward to the Superintendent and ultimately to the School Board.Over the next year, staff will toke (sic) a comprehensive look at capacity, projected enrollment numbers, and anticipated growth to address capacity issues for the entire Division. Topics of discussion will include the current structure of K-5, 6-8, and 9-12, assumptions regarding feeder patterns, and routing of buses.

On Wednesday evening, the Board of Supervisors approved a zoning change for the Patterson subdivision in Crozet, from R-1 to R-6, allowing for the potential of up to 6 homes per acre on the approximately 3.5 acre lot (althougth the developer agreed to build not more than 10 homes). A place people could come in to sample the beers, sit on the porch and enjoy the view, maybe go on a tour of the brewery, and get some light food. What happens is that when people think of a brewery the first thing they think of is a full fledge restaurant … which we understand … but we just are not able to do at the moment. We are flattered that people enjoy our food so much and we will continue to offer a light menu and we hope to expand our kitchen in the future. Thanks so much for coming out to the brewery and we hope to see you out there again…. We will have our wheat beer back on tap and in bottles in a few weeks … along with the very popular Imperial Porter.Matt NucciCo-OwnerBlue Mountain Brewery”Thanks, Matt for stopping by and for commenting.

They are marketing a product - education - and this type of review potentially damages their credibility and marketability. Also the new administration this year runs the school in a military fashion. We had a bullying issue with my honor roll student and the pricipal’s solution was to suspend the students if they made eye contact. We suggested mediation and he would not even entertain the idea.Parents (and non-parents) - this site is used by potential homebuyers and sellers…. If they are truthful, homeowners and tax-payers would do well to get involved and fix things. Is there recent data available that could verify the alleged suspensions?
